Orientation & Refresher Course In Chinese

Aim : The aim of Orientation & Refresher Course in Chinese is to refresh fundamental knowledge of the students in Chinese and to sharpen their communication skills so as to achieve desired level and to prepare them for various language related assignments like Interpretation, Guiding, Translation and Teaching etc.

Instructional Objectives :

On the completion of the course, students will be able to

•  Read, write, listen and speak Chinese fluently.
•  Perform interpretation from Chinese to English/Hindi and vice versa.
•  Work as tourist guides and escort Chinese delegation.
•  Handle industrial and business interpretation comfortably.
•  Perform simple translation from Chinese to English/Hindi and vice versa.
•  Impart elementary instructions in Chinese.

Course Structure

Duration of Course :6 months

Class timings :Two days in a week (Saturday and Sunday), Two hours per day (From 1000 Hrs to 1200 Hrs OR 1200 to 1400)

Total number of days for contact periods : 50

No of periods per day : 02 Total number of periods: 100

Teaching Methodology :

•   Lesson Method with the help of Audio-Visual aids.
•  Lecture Method cum demonstration method.
•  Conversation and group discussion.
•  Spoken practice and Loud reading.
•  Listening practice with the help of recorded Chinese programme/ live telecast from China.
•  Home assignments .
•  Project works to the group of students.
•  Main focus to be given on the development of four skills i.e. Reading, writing, listening and speaking.
•  Field work and on the job training under the guidance of the experts.
•  Tests and remedial measures for improvement.
